Cookie Policy

Effective Date: April 19, 2026

At Meet4.Gift, we believe in being clear and open about how we collect and process data about you. This page explains our practices regarding cookies and similar browser storage technologies, and how you can manage them.

Note: This Cookie Policy specifically covers our use of cookies and local browser storage. For details on how we handle your personal information more broadly, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your browser or device by a website you visit. They typically contain an origin domain, an expiration date, and an identifier. In addition to cookies, websites may use other browser storage mechanisms such as localStorage and sessionStorage to store data directly on your device.

For the purposes of this policy, we use the term "cookies and similar technologies" to refer to both HTTP cookies and browser-based local storage mechanisms.

What Does Meet4.Gift Use?

Below is a description of the cookies and similar technologies we use or may use on our platform.

1. Authentication Tokens (localStorage — Essential)

When you log in to Meet4.Gift, we store a session token and basic account information (such as your username and avatar URL) in your browser's localStorage. This is essential to keep you logged in as you navigate the platform and to personalize your experience.

  • meet4_token — A JSON Web Token (JWT) used to authenticate your requests to our servers. It expires after 30 days.
  • meet4_user — A small JSON object containing basic profile information (username, profile photo URL, membership tier, etc.) used to personalize your experience while logged in. Also stores your warning suppression preferences so previously acknowledged notices are not shown again.

These values are stored locally in your browser and are never shared with third parties. They are used solely to authenticate you with our own servers. You can clear them at any time by logging out or clearing your browser's local storage.

2. Google Fonts (Third-Party — Functional)

Our website loads the Inter typeface from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) via Next.js's built-in font optimization. When your browser requests font files, Google's servers may log standard request data such as your IP address and browser type, subject to Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. No persistent tracking cookies are set by this interaction on our behalf.

3. Google Analytics (Third-Party — Analytics)

We may use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. If enabled, Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information about how visitors use our website, such as pages visited, time spent on the site, and general traffic patterns. This data is used in aggregated, anonymized form to help us understand and improve our services.

For more information on how Google collects and processes data, visit https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You may opt out of Google Analytics by downloading the opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout and opt out of Google's ad personalization at https://adssettings.google.com/.

4. Google™ Maps API (Third-Party — Functional)

Some features of our website may rely on Google™ Maps API cookies to provide location-based functionality. If used, such cookies will be stored on your device. By using features that rely on Google™ Maps, you consent to the storage and collection of such cookies on your device and to the access, use, and sharing by Google of the data collected thereby.

Google™ manages the information and your choices pertaining to Google™ Maps API cookies via an interface separate from that supplied by your browser. For more information, please see https://www.google.com/policies/technologies/cookies/.

5. Social Networking Cookies (Third-Party — Social)

We may integrate social networking features that allow you to share content or connect with others through third-party platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter/X. If such features are enabled, those third parties may set their own cookies on your device when you interact with those features. These cookies may also be used by those third parties for their own advertising purposes. Your use of these features is subject to the respective privacy policies of those third-party platforms.

How Can You Control Cookies and Local Storage?

Browser Controls

You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings. Clearing localStorage will log you out of Meet4.Gift. Instructions vary by browser — refer to your browser's help menu for guidance.

Logging Out

Logging out of Meet4.Gift removes your authentication token and user data from your browser's localStorage.

Opting Out of Google Services

If you prefer that your browser does not send data to Google's servers, you may use a browser extension that blocks third-party requests, opt out of Google Analytics at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or configure your browser accordingly.

Interest-Based Advertising Tools

Advertising companies may participate in self-regulatory programs that allow you to opt out of interest-based ads. For more information, visit the Digital Advertising Alliance or the Network Advertising Initiative. Opting out does not mean you will not see advertising — it means you will not see personalized advertising from companies that participate in these programs.
